Hi! I’m Sam Manikham, MA, LPC.
She | Her | Hers
I earned a Master’s in Counseling and Psychological Services from Saint Mary’s University of Minnesota in 2012. I currently have my LPC and am currently working towards my license in Professional Clinical Counseling (LPCC) under the supervision of Dr. Tina D. Shah, PsyD, LP.
Previously, I have provided mental health therapy for individuals and couples in outpatient settings. I have also provided play therapy for children with autism spectrum disorder in outpatient clinics and in-home settings.
My favorite part of this work
My favorite part of this work is that I bring authenticity, compassion, cultural awareness and humor into my work with clients. I provide a safe space and empower clients in self-discovery and growth. I enjoy being part of my clients’ journey in healing and achieving their goals.
Speaking of my clients
In particular, I specialize in working with individuals, who:

I have a special interest in:
Integrating mindfulness practices and art.
People who identify as BIPOC or have diverse cultural backgrounds.
Working with individuals experiencing developmental and interpersonal trauma.
Working with individuals from marginalized groups.
I am passionate about:
Empowering clients in improving self-awareness and personal growth.
Working with individuals who are identified as BIPOC and/ or have diverse backgrounds.
Exploring multicultural and racial identity in relationships.
Integrating a holistic approach to connect clients with nature.
On Personal Note
As a first-generation, Asian American therapist, I am attuned to the complexity of cultural identity, acculturation and multiculturalism that exist within communities. My personal experiences have influenced me as a therapist to be compassionate, non-judgmental and culturally responsive in understanding what my client values. In building a connection with my clients, I provide a safe and supportive space for them to share their cultural challenges and guidance towards achieving their goals and personal growth.
Outside of work, I enjoy nature, art, reading, gardening, playing with my dogs and connecting with friends and family.
