Hi! I’m Mounika Karri, BS (Master’s in progress)
She | Her | Hers
I’m earning a Master’s degree in Counselor Education from the University of Minnesota and expect to complete it in spring 2026. I am currently working under the supervision of Dr.Bailey Dirth, PsyD, LP.
Previously, I have provided mental health counseling services to children, adolescents, and young adults in outpatient clinics and home-based settings; delivered culturally tailored behavioral interventions; and conducted research on ethnic disparities in mental health help-seeking.
My favorite part of this work
My favorite part of this work is building deep, authentic connections with people and supporting them through their personal journeys. I love creating spaces where people feel safe and understood, and it's incredibly rewarding to witness their resilience and growth. Being part of this field allows me to continually learn about each person's unique identity and lived experiences, enriching my own perspective and inspiring my personal growth as well.
Speaking of my clients
In particular, I specialize in working with individuals, who:
Individuals who experience distress related to cultural expectations, familial pressures, or identity conflicts.
Individuals navigating academic pressures, career decisions, and significant life transitions.
Individuals impacted by experiences of loneliness, isolation, or difficulties forming meaningful connections.
Those who are influenced by generational, childhood, or interpersonal traumas, especially within immigrant families.
I have a special interest in:
Individuals from immigrant families, particularly first-generation young adults.
Clients exploring multicultural identities and experiences.
Young adults and college students adjusting to new environments and expectations
Individuals with historically marginalized identity/ identities.
I am passionate about:
Supporting clients in discovering their inner strengths and building lives that feel authentic and fulfilling.
Providing culturally responsive care that honors each person’s background, values, and lived experiences.
Challenging mental health stigma, especially within immigrant and underserved communities.
Promoting emotional well-being through a holistic lens that includes mind-body awareness and self-compassion.
Continuously learning and growing as a therapist so I can offer thoughtful, informed, and ethical care.
On Personal Note
I am a first-generation Indian American whose intersecting identities and experiences have significantly shaped my perspectives. My background enriches my work as a counselor, allowing me to approach therapy authentically and compassionately, grounded in values that guide both my personal and professional life.
Outside of work, I enjoy reading, practicing yoga, exploring nature trails, discovering new music, and spending time at cafes and restaurants that celebrate diverse cultures and cuisines.
