Hi! I’m Megan Nyberg, MA, LPCC

She | Her | Hers

I earned a Master’s of Arts (MA) degree in Counseling and Psychological Services from Saint Mary’s University of Minnesota in 2021. I am a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC).

I have worked in the mental health field since 2021 in outpatient clinics serving adolescents and adults. Previously, I co-led an anxiety, depression, and trauma intensive outpatient program (IOP) for adolescents.

My favorite part of this work

What I enjoy most about being a therapist is creating a unique space for growth, curiosity, and healing. I believe that we all have a universal need for connection to self, others, and the world around us, and that we all need encouragement to show up authentically in our lives. I take a collaborative approach in supporting clients to discover new ways to tell their story with compassion and grace (and humor!).

I value my clients’ experiences and personal reflections. My desire is to provide a safe and empowering atmosphere for clients to examine, challenge, and accept themselves.

I have a special interest in:

  • Transracial, transnational adoption/adoptees, working with children of adopted individuals, and racial identity work of adoptees and those who grew up questioning their racial and ethnic identities.

  • Grief and loss –especially “hidden” grief, also known as disenfranchised grief, ambiguous loss, and loss of friends and loved ones.

  • Developmental and holistic approaches to healing, including awareness of developmental milestones on our life’s journey and disruptions from traumatic experiences on our development.

  • Exploring mindfulness, creative expressions (books, music, art, tv/movies), and movement.

I am passionate about:

  • Always asking questions, challenging the status quo, and life-long learning endeavors.

  • Empowering clients to safely explore and step into new spaces with curiosity and confidence.

  • Growing in my understanding of Asian American mental health needs and increasing awareness and access for marginalized groups.

On Personal Note

I am a transracial, transnational adopted individual from South Korea. Growing up in the Twin Cities, I was afforded the opportunity to explore my Korean heritage through camps and events, and continue to form my Korean American/Adoptee identity through a variety of resources. These experiences influence and inform my therapy practice, and I believe in allowing space for the nuances of our ethnic and racial identity.

I make a conscious effort to engage in the following activities: reading fiction and non-fiction, watching K-dramas, yoga, spending time with friends and family, writing, and cooking.
