Hi! I’m Lisa Perlock, MA, LPCC, CCTP
She | Her | Hers
I hold a Master's in Clinical Counseling from Argosy University and am licensed as a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor and Certified Clinical Trauma Professional. Over the last 20+ years, I have dedicated my career to providing comprehensive support to individuals of all ages and across a wide range of family systems.
My experience spans many levels of care, from in-home children's mental health services and day treatment programs for both children and adults, to serving as a research assistant at the University of Minnesota–Twin Cities. Today, my work continues as an outpatient provider and as a Board Approved Supervisor for the Board of Behavioral Health & Therapy for pre-licensed individuals.
My practice is informed by a range of evidence-based modalities, including EMDR, Accelerated Resolution Therapy, Post Induction Therapy, Polyvagal Theory, and Somatic Psychology, as well as among others. Each of these approaches reflects my commitment to meeting you where you are, drawing on the tools and methods that best support your unique healing process.
My favorite part of this work
My favorite part of this work is having the privilege to meet someone exactly where they are, and creating a space where they feel truly seen, heard, and held with care, no matter what.
Speaking of my clients
In particular, I specialize in working with individuals, who:
Ages 5+ and up.
Anxiety, Depression and Life transitions
Developmental and Intergenerational Trauma.
PTSD, Acute Trauma and single-isolated events.
Neurodiversity: including ADHD, Autism, learning differences, and twice-exceptional children (2e).
I have a special interest in:
Supporting children and teens.
EMDR, ART, somatic interventions and other modalities that help us move forward with life in a different way.
Trauma-aware and culturally responsive approaches to healing.
The mind-body connection and how the nervous system holds stress and memories.
I am passionate about:
Inspiring emotional growth and resilience.
Being collaborative and transparent.
Staying curious and continuously seeking out new information through a genuine love of learning that never quite turns off.
Mentoring and supporting the next generation of mental health professionals.
On Personal Note
I am a Korean adoptee, who grew up in the suburbs of the Twin Cities. This experience has shaped me in ways I am still discovering. It’s given me an early and intimate understanding of what it means to feel different and what it means to belong. This understanding lives at the heart of everything I do, because within us is a story that deserves to be honored.
And on the lighter side, when I am not cheering on my kids or working on my children's books, I’m probably reading a new book or seriously contemplating if I should take the first step with my sourdough starter!
