Hi! I’m Jackie Wychor, BA
She | Her | Hers
I am currently earning a Master of Arts in Counseling and Psychological Services from St. Mary’s University of Minnesota, graduating in 2027. I am currently training under the supervision of Dr. Amy Fish.
Previously, I spent ten years supporting individuals and families affected by severe and persistent mental illnesses and substance use disorders. I have experience providing in-home and community-based services to adults and families of diverse ages and backgrounds.
My background serving people from all walks of life through some of their most difficult situations informs my belief that life can challenge anyone in unexpected ways, and that everyone deserves the opportunity to prioritize their mental well-being so they can navigate these challenges with greater ease. I believe therapy can provide a safe and grounding space to reflect on what might keep us feeling stuck, and to build toward the way we really want to live.
My favorite part of this work
My favorite part of this work is building relationships with my clients and seeing them reach their goals, whatever they may look like. Everyone’s story is unique, and It’s an honor to be able to provide a space where folks can share their stories in a way that daily life doesn’t always allow.
Speaking of my clients
In particular, I specialize in working with individuals who:
Adults who want to understand and change patterns that no longer serve them.
Partners, parents and caregivers supporting loved ones experiencing challenges with mental illness or substance abuse.
Women seeking to rebuild confidence and self-trust after experiencing relational trauma.
I have a special interest in:
Exploring generational trauma and the ways our family culture and history shape our inner world.
The mind-body connection and how cultivating physical well-being strengthens mental health.
I am passionate about:
Supporting clients who want to incorporate spiritual and cultural practices into their mental healthcare.
Bringing authenticity, kindness, and humor to the therapy space.
Learning techniques to cope with overwhelming emotions in order to make decisions that align with one’s true values, rather than reactions to distress.
On Personal Note
I love finding new trails to walk with my dog, Astro, gardening, and catching up with friends and family over food whenever possible.
